My Philosophy

An artist uses many colors to tell a story on the canvas. When that one dimensional fabric becomes a scene with depth and color, at once the story is no longer only his to tell... but the viewers as well.


"Gone With the Wind" Star Butterfly McQueen 

Actress and dancer, "Butterfly" McQueen refused to take stereotypical roles in Hollywood, after she played "Prissy", the house servant((opposite Vivien Leigh),  in "Gone with the Wind".

McQueen spent most of her career working as a comedian and in retail stores to make ends meet.

She admitted to purposely separating herself from the classic movie. Later, she embraced the character she felt that was degrading to blacks in the industry for decades.
